Cheryl Engle

Cheryl Lyn Ferris and Kevin Engle were married on 19 July 1986. For nearly forty years she was his wife, and all her life she sang the gospel.
On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Lord took her home.
That date was already written into this family's story. Seventy years earlier, to the very day, on Sunday, 8 January 1956, five young missionaries gave their lives on a sandbar in the rain forest of Ecuador. One of the five was Ed McCully. In the 1940s he had invited Kevin's father, Ken Engle, to preach in Wauwatosa, and he helped support Ken on the mission field.
Seventy years to the day after Palm Beach, Cheryl followed them home.

Cheryl's Music

Cheryl sang the gospel. With her friend Kathy Abrahamson she gave concerts in churches: Little Rock Bible Church in 1988, Park Springs Bible Church in July 2004, Wycliffe in November 2005 (where her father, John Ferris, introduced them), and others too numerous to mention. She also sang at many memorials and funerals.
At her memorial service in Kansas on 2 February 2026, the family heard two of her most requested songs. Five additional songs are included in the video of her memorial service, linked below.

Cheryl Lyn Engle
July 1, 1952 – January 8, 2026

Cheryl Lyn Ferris Engle was born July 1, 1952 in Canyon Texas. She went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 8, 2026.
She accepted Christ at the age of 9 and there is no uncertainty on her part that she will spend eternity in heaven with her Creator in accordance with the assurances and promises of the Word of God and the death of Christ on the cross for her sins and the complete forgiveness that brings.
Cheryl Engle
While working toward her masters in music at North Texas State University, Cheryl Engle studied voice. After leaving North Texas, and doing a couple of short opera stints, Cheryl concentrated on sacred music and, in addition to sacred concerts, has sung at church services, conferences and women's retreats.
Cheryl has always considered it a special blessing from the Lord that she has had opportunity to sing.
